Daily Itinerary

Saturday, Day 0: Required orientation and safety briefing at 7:00 PM sharp. Meet our staff and your fellow adventurers. Welcome to T.rex country!

Days 1 — 6: Six Days Field Excavation
Day breaks early on the high plains of South Dakota and in summer, temperatures rise quickly. Experience has taught the value of an early start. Each day begins with our departure from Newell by 7 AM and we are on the dig sites before 8 o’clock each morning.

Each day, you will have the opportunity to participate in every aspect of dinosaur excavation, from surveying the site to uncovering fossil bones.

In order to provide a relief from the heat of the afternoon we have scheduled our field classes to be held during the mid-day break. Daylight lingers well into evening and typically we will not depart the field until 6 PM or later.

Saturday, Day 7: Your dinosaur adventure ends with a guided tour of the famous Black Hills Institute of Paleontology and the museum of the South Dakota School Mines in Rapid City, SD.
