We
are proud to announce that our Assistant Director, Patty Flynn,
was recently named a member of the Board of the Florida Public
Archaeology Network (FPAN), a position that recognizes her
long time dedication and commitment to the preservation of
the states's human resources and cultural heritage. Prior
to accepting this position Patty also served two terms as
the President of the Florida Anthropological Society (FAS).
A long time member of the former Broward County Archaeological
Society she served as Board member, Vice-President and finally
President from 1999 to 2003. As the chapter's representative
to the FAS Board she was named to that organizations Board
of Directors as the Chair of the Chapter Affiliation Committee
where she was responsible for guiding new chapters through
the process of becoming established and accepted for inclusion
in the Society. She also served as the FAS Board's direct
liaison to its chapters providing each with advice and information
regarding policy while at the same time communicating local
feedback regarding these matters. In addition, Patty served
as Assistant Director of the former Graves Museum of Archaeology
and Natural History from 2002 to 2004.
A
Florida native born in Opa-Locka, she was formerly a world
class show horse trainer and has worked as a veterinary
technician
for over twenty years.
